• Senior Sport and Recreation leadership Role

  • BAND 8 salary from $113,068 to $125,539

An exciting and challenging opportunity exists within the Recreation Services team at City of Ballarat to lead the City’s Recreation Planning Program in a 12 month fixed term contract. The opportunity arises to cover an extended period of leave of the incumbent officer. Along with your four direct reports you will be responsible for leading our structure that oversees sporting clubs and associations and the implementation of reviews of Council’s Recreation Strategic Plan “Active Ballarat” that will encompass an update of Council’s Active Women and Girls Strategy and the implementation of the Fair Access Policy Action Plan.

The successful candidate will join an experienced team of recreation officers and planners.

The successful candidate will have experience in Recreation Planning and stakeholder management along with proven people leadership skills at Coordinator or manager level within a local government environment.

Key selection Criteria

  • Strong knowledge and experience in Recreation Planning within the local government sector.
  • Experience in leading and supervising a team of people.
  • Experience in developing or supervising a planning process.
  • Experience in community consultation and stakeholder management.
  • Strong report writing and knowledge of Council decision making processes.

  • Strategic reviews of existing Recreation Strategies
  • Oversite of Growth Areas Sporting Infrastructure Development
  • State and Local Sporting Association Relationship Development
  • Local sport and association relationship development
