Banyule City Council is seeking a Child Safety Advisor to play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting our team in the delivery of child safety strategies that lead to meaningful community impact. What You’ll Do

As the Child Safety Advisor, you will:

  • Provide expert guidance and advice to teams to uphold child safety standards across all services, programs, and facilities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of child safety strategies that contribute directly to positive community outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring all staff understand and adhere to child-safe standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate workplace child safety practices, continuously improving protocols to ensure children are always protected.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to align workplace practices with community-focused child safety outcomes.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a passionate, proactive professional with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, project management, compliance, social work, psychology, community or human services, or lesser qualifications with extensive demonstrated experience in these areas.
  • Proven experience in child safety, compliance, or risk management, preferably with a focus on the workforce.
  • Strong understanding of child protection laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills to influence and guide teams effectively.
  • A deep commitment to community outcomes, and ensuring child safety is integral to all services.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • Psychometric Assessment
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police check)
