What you’ll do

  • Lead exciting areas of the Youth team’s engagement such as our communication portfolio, young men’s programs and school engagement
  • Play a pivotal role in the planning, development and implementation of a range of opportunities for young people in the City of Banyule
  • Under the direction of the Youth & Community Connections Coordinator you will facilitate the strategic planning, provision and delivery of all aspects of high-quality youth programs, activities and events for young people aged 10-25 years and their families
  • Ensure that services are consistent with council’s youth services strategic plans, policies, philosophies and service agreements

Working hours: This position may require late night availability one evening per week (up to 8pm). As a four-day per week position the working week is negotiable with the non-working day either Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday. Whilst the position is primarily based at 1 Flintoff Street Greensborough, you’ll also work at JETS Studios, Bundoora.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in youth work or related discipline
  • Proven experience, knowledge and understanding of working with young people in a variety of program settings
  • Practical working knowledge and understanding of Youth Work principles and practice
  • Well-developed knowledge in the use of social media, online applications and IT systems
  • Extensive knowledge of professional conduct required of youth workers i.e. confidentiality, respectful engagement, accurate record keeping, punctuality

Pre-employment requirements

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Working With Children’s check
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police check)

What we offer:

  • A permanent part time opportunity - 32 hours per week
  • Salary range $79,359.83 to $86,278.39 plus super (for comparison at full time, this would be $94,475.99 to $102,712.38 per annum).
