The Role

Working within our Resource Recovery and Education unit, you will support the development and delivery of City education strategies and the implementation of educational programs, activities and resource recovery projects within the municipality by:

  • Undertaking education sessions with schools, businesses and community groups
  • Developing and delivering education and behavior change programs relating to waste avoidance and resource recovery
  • Researching and developing reports on the issues faced by council in relation to kerbside waste collection and management, waste streams and waste audits
  • Assisting to develop and deliver strategies, tools and programs to raise community awareness and to educate the community on the value of effective waste minimisation and resource diversion.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of kerbside waste collection and management, waste streams, waste audits and the issues facing business, industry and government
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing and implementing education/behaviour change programs
  • An understanding of the barriers to participation at the household and business level and the ability to develop strategies to overcome these
  • Strong interpersonal skills including highly developed negotiation skills with a positive and flexible attitude.
