The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Maribyrnong Libraries to join our team. This Library Officer role will work Fridays and Saturdays at the West Footscray branch. The successful candidate will be confident and enthusiastic with a demonstrated ability in the delivery of engaging and effective customer service in a library environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide welcoming, knowledgeable customer, information and reader advisory in branches, online and across all services.
  • Undertake administrative tasks to support day-to-day operations including recording statistics, collection maintenance and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
  • Contribute to the identification of programs that respond to the needs of the community.
  • Deliver library programs as required.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • Demonstrated front facing customer service experience.
  • Experience in the delivery of high quality and engaging programs preferably within a public library or education environment.
  • Proven proficiency in the use of technology and online applications.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Victorian Certificate of Education or equivalent.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence.
  • A language other than English (spoken or Auslan) is highly desirable.
  • The position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment medical check.
  • No relevant criminal record found in a police check.
