Why this role matters The Accommodation Options for Families (AOF) programs operates within the Victoria Division of The Salvation Army Australia Territory (TSA). The AOF program is part of The Western Metro Homelessness Service, situated in Sunshine. AOF is a government funded program aimed specifically to provide support and accommodation options to families who are homeless or at risk of residing in rooming houses or other unsuitable accommodation. About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive AOF Family Support Worker to utilize case management models to provide direct service delivery to families who are homeless. Reporting to the Support Services Coordinator, this is a permanent, part-time (30.4 hours per week) position based in Sunshine, Victoria. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 5. You will successfully Provide outreach services that assess, monitor, and evaluate the housing and support needs of families and children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Provide crisis intervention. Work with a strengths-based approach, empowering people to make changes or gain understanding of things going on in their lives. Assist families to have increased self-efficacy and personal action through being able to seek supports and assistance when they are required. Undertake advocacy work with public, private and community housing providers and other key government and non-government agencies to achieve sustainable, long-term, and safe housing outcomes for families and children. Work to embed the National Homelessness Stream of Model of Care in your team, which underpins homelessness services across the country and defines expectations and standards for those we serve, our partner and allies, and the Australian community. You will have Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related community service field. Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities. A current and valid Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC). A current and valid Victorian Driver licence.
