Your Opportunity

The key function of the Community Engagement Role is to develop an effective, flexible engagement program for Council.  The program will encompass multiple engagement platforms and be transferable to other Councils in Queensland with minimal tailoring of questions.

Council is wanting to develop a new Community Engagement Program that will guide best practice Community Engagement commencing with the renewables sector.  This role will lead the development of the Community Engagement Program and will be instrumental in building our internal engagement capability, providing specialist advice to staff and implementation of the new Community Engagement Plan.

 

Term:                         Fixed-term contract of up to 12 months 

Hours of Work:         72.5 hours per fortnight 

Pay Level:                 $3324.54 to $3455.97 per fortnight (Level 5), plus superannuation and annual leave loading 

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience. 

Employment Base:  Warwick or Stanthorpe, Queensland (will be negotiated with successful candidate)

 

About the Department

The Economic Development Department falls within the Executive Services directorate and reports directly to the CEO. The department is responsible for progressing initiatives that will attract, secure, protect and advocate for economic growth in the Southern Downs. Economic development is a core deliverable under the SDRC Corporate Plan 2021 – 2026 with a focus on Agriculture & Processing, Industry & Innovation, Tourism & Events, and Population Attraction & Retention.

With the directive to attract and develop an educated, skilled and well remunerated local workforce, a productive and sustainable rural sector and profitable commercial and industrial enterprises, the department is at the coalface of regional development in Southern Downs.

The SDRC Economic Development Strategy 2022 – 2026 provides the framework for how Council seeks to achieve the outcome of building the capacity and capability of the regional economy to protect and enhance the Southern Downs as a sought-after, liveable community now and into the future.

The complete Key Responsibilities of this role can be found in the Position DescriptionThese include (but are not limited to):  

  • Identification and implementation of a suitable online community engagement program.
  • Develop strategies and collateral to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders impacted by a range of Council projects and activities.
  • Ability to map stakeholders for community engagement projects and determine methods to notify and engage each stakeholder group.
  • Develop and deliver a community engagement program around renewable energy.

 

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia
  • A person in this position will need to hold a relevant degree, IAP2 Australasia Certificate in Engagement, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional people skills & the ability to manage differing opinions, Research skills & to develop engagement programs with the ability to facilitate workshops/forums
  • Demonstrated ability in research and the interpretation of data using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies, and associated engagement and communication materials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in delivering stakeholder engagement methodologies.
  • Experience in online consultation and the use of social media for stakeholder engagement.
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description
