Are you passionate about enhancing community safety and promoting well-being within public spaces? Council is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Community Safety Engagement Officer.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working closely with the community, engaging with stakeholders, and implementing strategies that improve public safety.

As the Community Safety Engagement Officer, your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Implement evidence-based approaches to address community safety needs, guided by Council’s community safety plan.
• Foster collaboration among Council, external agencies and community groups to address safety concerns and broker solutions.
• Coordinate and present community safety data to diverse audiences.
• Lead the daily operations and tasking of Public Space Safety Team and provide informed and timely advice and assistance to public safety concerns.
• Engage with residents to address safety concerns and facilitate localised solutions where possible.
• Develop communication strategies to enhance community awareness on public safety.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification relevant to the position and/or previous experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated experience in an engagement and/or customer response role.
• A current “C” class driver’s licence.
• Proven experience responding to community safety enquiries from the public.
• Well-developed problem-solving abilities.
• A strong knowledge of tools, techniques, technology platforms, and social media to drive community engagement and project management.
• Highly developed administrative, research, report writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
