Fairfield City Council manages a variety of children and family services, including long day care, preschool, family day care, supported playgroups, early intervention services and family support services. The Fairfield City Best Start Education & Care Unit is strongly committed to providing opportunities for professional development, including a leadership program for emerging directors, study support, including study leave and reimbursement secondments across the services. Fairfield City Council seeks to employ a Family Day Care Team Leader who has a passion for working with children and their families from diverse cultures and backgrounds and who enjoy being challenged and supported through professional development and team environments.

This position manages the day to day running of the Family Day Care Scheme and is responsible for ensuring that the service provides high quality care for the children and families that utilize the service

The Team Leader Family Day Care leads a diverse team and also provides support, supervision and professional development to the staff that work at the Scheme, in addition to overseeing a number of contract educators that provide home based care (maximum of sixty Educators)

They assist staff in ensuring the home based educators are providing a professional and developmentally sound environment that is safe, nurturing, culturally relevant and meets the social, emotional, physical, sensory, creative, intellectual and language development needs of the children through the provision of a written program that is evaluated regularly whilst following the Education and Care regulations

The position also involves keeping written records on the children, families and the home based educators, regular liaisons with families and the community, organising regular meeting with staff and other administrative tasks plus representing the Scheme at regional and state meetings

The Team Leader Family Day Care is required to ensure the service is meeting relevant Regulation, Legislations and Quality Assurance guidelines as well as regular recruitment of home based educators

ESSENTIAL:

  • Recognised university qualification in Early Childhood Education as approved by ACECQA
  • Working with Children Check
  • Approved Anaphylaxis Management Training
  • Approved Emergency Asthma Management Training
  • Driver's License
  • Ability to fulfill the criteria requirements of Nominated Supervisor as per the Education and Care Regulations 2011
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated Experience in:
    • a management position in a child care service (0-12 years)
    • the implementation of culturally diverse service
    • change management
    • budget processing and monitoring
    • motivating and mentoring staff
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including conflict   resolution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of licensing and funding.

 

DESIRABLE:

  • Diploma in Frontline Management or other related management course
  • Extensive experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Previous Family Day Care experience, including a working knowledge of Harmony software.
  • Previous experience in Local Government Management role

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week
  • This position is a Grade 6, salary range is $92,545p.a. with progression to $102,152p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $108,404p.a.
