Why this role matters To provide high quality emergency catering services in the primary kitchen or mobile catering units onsite at emergency or disaster sites within Western Australia. This includes overseeing efficient kitchen operations, menu planning, supporting and training staff and volunteers, ensuring food quality and safety, controlling costs and meeting all regulatory and legislative requirements. About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Head Chef, at our Malaga location. Reporting to the Response Coordinator, this is a permanent, full-time position. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 5. This role will involve the requirement of interstate travel. You will successfully Create and design the emergency catering menu ensuring meals meet nutritional requirements and are of the highest standard, taste and presentation. Oversee daily kitchen operations and manage kitchens during emergencies to ensure efficiency and organisation. Maintaining hygiene and safety standards, ensuring compliance with Food Safety Act and applicable regulations including cleanliness, delivery, storage, preparation, cooking, storage and service. Accountable for ensuring operational practices and processes meet the health department and all relevant regulatory requirements. Train and support staff and response volunteers, assigning tasks and ensuring teamwork. You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications) Tertiary or Industry qualifications equivalent to at least Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery.) Food Safety Supervisor Certificate. Extensive Leadership experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen with solid experience in People Management. Senior First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain. Ability to develop, write, administer and evaluate all aspects of the Food Safety Plan. Current unrestricted WA Driver’s License. Heavy Rigid Driver’s License or willingness to obtain.
