Why this role matters The primary purpose of the Ministry Assistant position is to be responsible for creating and strengthening The Salvation Army’s engagement with young people through the Bellarine Peninsula Salvation Army. They will be responsible for creating child and youth-centred programs and connections that respond to the needs of the local community, the development and training of volunteers and leaders, and will oversight the youth and children’s ministries of the Bellarine Peninsula Salvation Army. About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Ministry Assistant to support the Corps Officer in the delivery of the mission of The Salvation Army/Corps through development and facilitation of youth and children’s ministry, school chaplaincy, kids zone and community outreach, in an integrated setting. Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a max-term (until December 2025), full-time, position based in Clifton Springs, Victoria. You will successfully: Plan, co-ordinate and assist with the delivery of Corps programs and activities focused on children, youth and families in consultation with Corps Officer(s). Ensuring all programming is in line with The Salvation Army Bellarine Peninsula’s Local Mission Plan and respond to identified needs of the local community. Advertise, co-ordinate registrations and attend kids and youth camps run by the corps, Victoria Division or National events Oversee and develop an effective mission focus for children and youth ministry. Establish links and build relationships with local schools and other youth programs in the community. Monitor programs to ensure they remain within the set budgets. Volunteers are recruited, trained, and effectively engaged. Participates in appropriate funding activities as guided by the Corps Officer(s) You will have: Relevant qualification in youth and/or children’s ministry. Relevant experience in implementing, facilitating and evaluating youth and/or children’s programs.
