The Role

An exciting opportunity exists within our Office of Mayor and CEO directorate for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager. Reporting to the Manager People and Culture, in this role, you will lead, coach and empower a high-performance team dedicated to health, safety, and wellbeing, fostering a culture of proactive risk management and compliance. By providing expert guidance and implementing best practices, ensure operational excellence and engagement across all levels of Council. Oversee the continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and metrics to enhance safety performance, facilitate transparency, and drive a safer, healthier work environment.

Essential

C Class Drivers Licence

General Construction Safety Induction (White Card).

Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety or a related discipline.

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Workplace Health & Safety.

Proven experience in leading a culture that values Health, Safety, and Wellbeing through stakeholder engagement and effective policies, procedures and initiatives.

Comprehensive understanding of Work Health & Safety, Workers Compensation, and Injury Management Legislation.

In-depth knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements related to Work Health & Safety, Workers Compensation, and Injury Management.

Experience in managing workers' compensation claims and ensuring compliance with relevant schemes and legislation.

Demonstrated experience in managing and being audited in accordance with ISO 45001 standards.

Strong investigative skills with the ability to write reports and provide recommendations to improve safety culture across the organization.

Experience in psychological safety, health hygiene, and fitness for work programs.

Desirable

Accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator.

Local Government related industry experience.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Rehabilitation and Return to Work certification.

Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent.
